ESG Lectures 2019 – The Invisible World of ‘Fake News’ with Prof. Philip McCormack MBE

We invite you to join us for this year’s Edwin Stephen Griffiths’ Lectures at the South Wales Baptist College from 1.30pm on Wednesday 27th March. The two lectures will be:
- 1:30pm – The Invisible World of ‘Fake News’
- 3:30pm – Navigating the Invisible World of ‘Fake News’
This year our guest lecturer is the Revd Professor Philip McCormack MBE who is Principal of Spurgeon’s College, London. In these two lectures Philip will invite us to reflect upon the invisible ideas and assumptions which help shape and create the social and cultural environment in which things like ‘fake news’ can emerge. He will also alert us to resources which can help us navigate our way through this invisible world.
Before moving to his present post Prof McCormack was an Assistant Chaplain General in the British Army and its academic lead on ethics nationally and internationally. An accredited BUGB Baptist minister, Prof McCormack holds PhDs from The Queen’s University of Belfast in New Testament and Cranfield University in Philosophy and Strategic Studies. He is the Chair of an International Prize Committee for Military Ethics, an Honorary Professor of Practical Ethics, a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and President of the Naval Military & Air Force Bible Society.
The Edwin Stephen Griffiths’ Lectures will be held in the main Lecture Hall at the South Wales Baptist College, 54 Richmond Road, Cardiff. CF24 3UR. As car parking space at the college is very limited please use public transport where possible.
